I promised a long time ago when I first used “Nancy from Now On” by Father John Misty that most of his album, Fear Fun, would wind up on this Song of the Day series. This song will be number four from that record (alongside “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” and “This Is Sally Hatchett”). I’m continuing to delve into my still growing vinyl collection and we’ve reached the “F”‘s which means it’s time for some Father John Misty. I think Grimes is next. We shall see. Anyways, it’s now time for my fourth favorite song on a record that is chock full of memorable tunes. “I’m Writing a Novel” is one of the more impressive lyrical numbers from one of last year’s most underappreciated records. Double points for a line that name drops both Heidegger and Sartre. Enjoy.
